Joy found this nest with eggs in it today while trimming some of flowers that grow in our fence.
Fresh ripe guava
This is what we do when the rain doesn't stay outside. All those items of clothing are to catch a drip or two and if you look closely at the last picture of the blue mosquito net you might see the trickle of water. It is interesting to wake up from a deep sleeping with water splashing through the mosquito net and then try to figure out where to place the clothes so that your mattress doesn't get to wet. We needed the rain though for all the wells so we will give thanks and deal with the shrinking bed issue. I know that we need a new roof but that will have to wait as we finish up the boy's room first. Maybe a tarp will help us get by until it's time.
More Blessings
Elementary school supplies for the first day (June 4th) ready to be handed out. We got supplies for 35 students, 30 full scholarships and 5 just supplies. High school material list isn't out yet, we will get that hopefully Monday. Then back to the closest big town and then pack them all up and hand them out. Thank you all who sent art and school supplies last year, maybe you can spot a few!
Blessings
Some of the elementary students that we sponsor together! One of the guys working for us sponsored some with his wife too. Big hearts can't be stopped from doing good! Some of the adults really wanted to be in the pictures too. More pictures to follow.
Sunday school
Art time at the end of our Sunday school class. First there are games, songs, a story and snack then art before we are all done.
MSG
While many in America are trying to get monosodium glutamate (msg) out of their diet people buy it here to add to all their special meals. Ever wonder what it looks like in it's pure form?
Goodbye old Friend
Anyone have a hammer drill or a 3" grinder that they were wondering why they own? Ours after 15 years here doesn't work anymore and the grinder is on it's last leg after being used hard for a year. My parents will be sending a box soon if you do.
Back to Welding
Back to welding trusses for the boy's room. Metal work takes so much longer than carpentry and is hotter. If there are bugs that can eat these I don't want to meet them.
Pet Rocks
After school today Ezra used his putty to make Buster, Captain and Tiger. He ran out or he would have finished the other two cats. His sizes are pretty much right on!
Project
A small project that I was able to finish while I was battling stomach issues for a few days. We sent the grill pieces from the states two and a half years ago when our grill burners rusted out and wasn't worth fixing. Glad that we did that now so that I could make this custom charcoal grill for them. The one we were using here is about used up
A Minor Burn
Oops, this is a minor burn from grabbing a piece of metal to soon after drilling through it, I underestimated how hot it would be. I would say that I won't do that again but I know that it is just a matter of time. Not the first time or last!
A Visitor
We don't see to many of these around but it is definitely an increase from our last home in Michigan. They are pretty interesting critters when you slow down and look at them.
A yellow one
Flowers
Something Ezra loves with something Joy does.
Welding
Welding another door frame which mean a room is almost done. I took a break from welding for awhile due to extra visitors and an eye issue but it's time to get back at all these projects.

Our First Well
I believe that we found our first well site! This well was dug at least a decade ago but they never had the budget to finish it with cement. The community has been using for bathing, cooking, laundry and some might drink out of it but it isn't clean. This is a picture that we took today during the dry season and it is full up to ground leave while many well have people standing by to wait for the water to trickle in enough to get some.
Bike Rides
I took the motorcycle for the 170 mile round trip to the only city on our island to get some things done that we can’t around here. It takes about 2.5 hours to do the 85 miles one way. I so enjoyed the early morning ride! It was so peaceful, relaxing and beautiful. The afternoon ride was hot and slowed down by traffic but I do enjoy riding.
Happy Birthday
Happy birthday Tiny (the one on the right), he turned 73 today. He is my brother in law and is still a huge source of energy and entertainment! The boys and I played basketball with him for at least an hour and this 4’7” man was pushing me all over the court/dinning room. He is full of jokes and laughter and has a joy for life not matched by many. His daughter Regine is in the picture with him.
