Not too happy
He looks excited to get dressed up, doesn't he?
Helping Feed Families
This guy weighed 277 pounds and helped feed six or seven families. We came away with the lions share to fill our new freezer.
Pigs and Pups
Piglets and puppies! Ok so we saw both but only got piglets.
Papaya
Papaya ripe is sweeter and much softer but if you cut them up before they get soft they are crispy kind of like a carrot with a hint of that papaya sweetness. We tend to like the crispy over the soft unless it comes off a super sweet tree. The crispy keeps well in the refrigerator for quick snacks while the ripe has a very limited shelf life and short window for excellence flavorand texture.
Flower
One picture is of a flower but the other one is focused on a garden frog. Aunt Pat you should recognize it! To all those children who have been following our adventure with their parents can you find it? It is easier to spot than the cat was in the rice picture.
Look What We Found
This is the boy's latest spider and biggest one to date. She just laid eggs last night still much bigger than the rest.
Garden
The gardens are almost all cleaned up again. Some have been planted but the is the easy part. Joy has been working on them almost everyday since we got back. The boys and I helped every now and again but Joy did the majority of the work.
Growing
The details are changing as it gets bigger! The picture on the left is the latest, look closely and you will see what I mean.
New Grill
A six piece grill oven combo with a elevated warmer station and a hot grill removal tool.
Future Home
These leaves were rolled up and tied by the caterpillars that are inside of them. I think they are getting ready to build their cocoons. What neat little homes they build for themselves!
More than meets the Eye
This scorpion tailed spider is so interesting! It's first line of defense is curl up and stop moving the next is to run. When it stops moving it looks like a little leaf.
Work on the Home
Some of the work this week was putting up cement forms and pouring some cement for the boy's new room.
Future Make Over
I wonder what these guys will look like with wings and a makeover?
A Helping Hand
This young man had a bad spill on his motorcycle. He didn't break any bones but lost a few teeth and scraped off a lot of skin. He has some infection starting and needed a dressing change. He said that he will come back for a few days so that we can head off the infection. He is on some antibiotics already but wound care as import in healing.
Flying fish
Quick trip to swim in the sea. The boys caught a young flying fish.
Bananasciles
What do you do when you have to many bananas to eat? Freeze them for baking or bananasicles.
Good thing...
Good thing, we got all the rice planted but the bad thing is that it is raining a lot and flooding which is washing it away. Oh well, that's farming. The rain slowed down for about an hour today but it isn't looking like it will really clear for awhile.
So That's What That Was...
So, I am used to the bathroom stinking after business is done but it has been smelling like something died in there lately before hand. I had searched the bathroom a couple times trying to find the source but to no avail. So when the lights sparked and smoked this morning when I turned them on I figure that I might have found the issue.
I was surprised though when I pulled the light socket off the wall though. In our time away a snake had decided that was a good place to make it's home, it was wrong! Good news is I found and removed the smell, the bad news is that it was a harmless snake that eats insects and I broke the light socket (nails were not a good choice to use) trying to get it off. Oh well, that is life in the fast lane.
The Only Way to Travel
Friends of mine just took this picture here in the Philippines. Just a sample of how much motorcycles are depended on here in the Philippines.
