This amazing moth has around a 4 inch wingspan.
School
I know that not many students want to start thinking about school in July but since the schools sales are on I’m told and the students here are already at it. Now is the time to officially start the second annual school & art supply roundup. This year we are sponsoring 60 students schooling and helping more with some supplies and we love to do arts and crafts with the children in the community, so that’s the why. The when is now July 19th (my brother and soon to be sister in law’s wedding day) until September 15th (my parent’s anniversary). By September 15th we ask that you have dropped off the supplies that you have gathered together on your own or with a group of people to my father and mother Karen Byker Folkertsma (he isn’t on Facebook), so that’s the where. The what is markers, colored pencils, #2 pencils, pens (black, blue or red), crayons, construction paper, scissors, erasers, pencil sharpeners, glue sticks and notebooks are the most needed. Last year’s roundup was great and I hope and pray that we are able to impact more children this year!
Attic floor
Attic floor going in for storage and extra sleeping space. The boys might just move into this before thwir room is complete. Right now they are sleeping in the original attic.
Post rain
The rain and lights tonight brought so many different kinds of moths in. If you like have been enjoying the butterfly pictures don't miss out on these guys, the patterns are awesome!
Swallowtail
I believe that this is a kind of swallowtail.
Hanging Scaffolding
Another hanging scaffold being put together.
Welding
Welding on one side finished and ready to be painted to protect from rust. Every two hours is a change of shirts because they are so wet. The combination of welding and being in the sun is a drencher, oh well cost of doing business.
Day 6
Finished day 6 with over half of the roof done and only two more pieces to weld on and paint. Day 7 started out with moving and building scaffolding. Here are a few pics of our work area.
Day 4
Day 4 we were able to finish painting despite rain and day 5 we got some roofing (nipa) on and more welding done. We should be done welding and painting the other side today alone with more nipa tied on, God permitting.
Footprints
Some fun with footprints! They are like attitudes (respect) they leave a print that is noticed even when you are not around
Basketball
The original ball that went with the boy's basketball set is now really done. They used it until it couldn't hold air anymore even though they had a new ball.
Day 3
Day 3 of project boy’s roof was interrupted by scattered rain showers. So it turned into half a day of prep and paint, we will see how the paint turns out. We pulled the plug on the painting at noon, kind of bummed was hoping to finish it so we could weld the other side on Monday. Best laid plans of mice and men.
A little shy butterfly?
Day 2
Day 2: Welding on one side finished and ready to be painted to protect from rust. Every two hours is a change of shirts because they are so wet. The combination of welding and being in the sun is a drencher, oh well cost of doing business.
Frogs and flowers!
Nature
A couple more tonight, after a year here we are still seeing new kinds regularly.
Day 1
First day of project boy's roof. I am pleased with the progress and the safety we were blessed with. I love it when a plan comes together!
Trusses
Trusses going up!
Fireworks
